Remy Bumppo 2012-2013 Season

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company’s brand has always rested on being intellectually playful and engaging. For this season’s shows, my goal was to take two concepts from each of the shows and combine them in playful ways. For example, with Seascape this manifested as the optical illusion of an idyllic beach scene that was also the head of a reptile. For Creditors, it was taking the concept of the intimate and juxtaposing it with being spied on.

When it came time to combine these images into a season brochure, I employed a roll-fold design that would reveal, one-by-one, the artwork on one page with the show description and details on the facing page, until all three shows were revealed side-by-side. The company had chosen to call the theme of the season “The Marriage Game,” so I distilled each show idea into a playing card and used the cards and gambling motif throughout the brochure.
