Transit Ad Campaign

Client:

Village of Homewood

The village of Homewood, Illinois, approached me to create a series of transit ads to entice city-dwelling commuters to considering moving to Homewood. They specifically wanted a video game style that would appeal to Millennials. I pitched a pixel-art style that would evoke nostalgic feelings of video games Millennials would have played as kids, include Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Double Dragon.

They loved the idea, and wanted to focus on the town's walkability, diversity, schools, and festivals, as well as ideosyncracies like local landmarks, the mayor and his dog, and the local high school. I also managed to slip in some overt video game references, as well as my own wife. The finished ads appeared on trains and in train stations, and offered commuters a fun activity to engage in on their long rides.
