My wife and I got married in Chicago, but neither of our families are from the area. So we decided to embrace the idea that this would be a destination wedding for many people. I designed and illustrated our invitations to entice our guests with all of the fun things to do in the city while they were here. On the cover of the invitation, we used a quote from famed Chicago architect Daniel Burnham to connect the excitement of the event to the city we call home.
Because so our guests were introduced to us at different times in our lives, we created the event program to help people connect with out journey. This included a timeline of our relationship and an illustrated guide to our families and the wedding party.
We carried the illustration and design feel over into all aspects of the event decorations, including table settings, dinner menu, and favor boxes. From the guests first news of the event through to the end of the event itself, my designs and illustration created a cohesive feel and a sense a continuity.
