project brief
This series of images was the first of many amazing collaborations I’ve had with photographer Nathanael Filbert. The posters for each show in BoHo’s previous season had each featured illustrations rooted in a single color and a figure containing other kinds of imagery. For this season, Nathanael and I took those ideas into the world of photography.
While the dystopian landscape in Urinetown and the ship in Marie Christine reference plot points in the show, Three Days of Rain gave us a chance for something else. The play uses the same cast of three actors to portray a set of characters and their own parents, so we used the same actor (Garrett Lutz) on the poster to portray both the son and the father through a practically-shot rainy window.
